Jayne Benton

Jayne earned a BS in Biology/Pre-Med from Purdue University and a Master’s degree from Hahnemann Hospital/Yale University Physician Assistant Program. She spent 12 years as Chief PA at Bay Area Orthopedic Specialists, with work ranging from total joint replacement to clinical sports medicine. She was a consultant to the San Francisco Unified School district, the San Francisco Ballet, San Francisco Giants and San Jose Sharks hockey teams. During that time, she also volunteered with Doctors Without Borders.

Having grown up in the area, Jayne and her husband Tom moved to New Canaan in 2001 to start their family. They have two teenage boys, ages 16 and 21.

Jayne is an active volunteer in the community. She has served on multiple boards, such as First Presbyterian Nursery School, West School, Saxe Middle School, New Canaan High School, New Canaan Cares (Special Events and Development) , New Canaan Garden Club , and Parent Board Chair of New Canaan Crew and University of Wisconsin Men’s Crew. . She has Chaired the NCCF Spring Luncheon, New Canaan Cares Home Tour Patron Party, Cooking with Cares , Saxe 8th grade Graduation Celebrations, New Canaan High School Planetarium Restoration Committee, Inaugural New Canaan Garden Tour, and First Candle.org Fall Fundraiser.

At the New Canaan Community Foundation, she has served as a member, then Co-Chair, of the Spirit of New Canaan Luncheon Committee, Co-Chair of the Events and Communications Committee, and member of the Annual Appeal and Grant Review Committees. In 2013, Jayne launched an events business in New Canaan named Elm Street Events.
