Leave a Legacy

Leave a legacy with a planned gift to the New Canaan Community Foundation.  Make a difference now and in the future.

Legacy gifts are an ideal way to show your commitment to the causes you care about. By naming the Foundation in your estate plans, you ensure that your family’s name will forever be connected to your charitable passions. A legacy gift can support a specific cause or charity, or be flexible to meet the changing needs of the community over time. Either way, your philanthropic legacy is secure, and the Foundation is here to ensure your charitable plans are carried out according to your wishes.

When you invest in the future of causes you care about, you want to work with someone who knows and has a commitment to community. The professional staff at the Foundation is available for advice on the needs and activities of local nonprofits as well as regional and national organizations. Community Foundations are ideal partners in planned giving, as we are community institutions here in perpetuity – to respond to the community over time, and to focus on impactful philanthropy.

Just a few sentences in your will or trust document are all that are needed.

Because you are making the gift after your lifetime, you can change your giving plans at any time.

Tax Advantages

You can structure the bequest to leave a specific amount or leave a percentage of your estate to the Foundation. You can make an unrestricted gift or establish a permanent fund with your donation.

If your estate is subject to estate taxes, the full value of your legacy gift is eligible for an estate tax charitable deduction.
