Karen Mactas
Karen moved with her husband and two school-age daughters to New Canaan in 1997. Karen soon became an active volunteer in the school system, both inside and outside of the classroom. Additionally, she was treasurer of Newcomers Club of New Canaan, a long-time Board member of both Encore and the New Canaan Beautification League, and has volunteered for many local organizations.
Karen has been involved with the Community Foundation in a number of capacities over many years. She most recently chaired the Development Committee and is a member of the Behavioral Health team. She also co-chaired the NCCF 2019-20 Annual Appeal and and was a member of the Covid Rapid Response team during the pandemic. She participated on the Sapienza Scholarship Committee for three years and has been a long-time participant in annual Grant Reviews.
Karen received an MBA in Finance from Rutgers University and started her career as a Business Analyst for Burroughs Corporation. Subsequently, at Airco Industrial Gases, a subsidiary of BOC International, she was named Manager of Capital Evaluations for the U.S., and subsequently moved into Product Management for Domestic Hydrogen and International Bulk Helium.
Karen is proud to be a part of the New Canaan Community Foundation— an organization that plays a leadership role in our town and whose tangible impact is felt far beyond the community borders.
